Storage Focus 2007

Last month saw the first ever Storage Focus event take place on 26th and 27th September at Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire. Europe’s only storage event dedicated to the channel was attended by over 100 delegates, in what was a truly groundbreaking and innovative event.

Headline sponsors of Intel, Seagate, QLogic and Quantum, along with 19 other storage vendors including Kingston, Sony and LSI, attended the expo which provided a great chance to meet and network with resellers and industry peers. “It was a lot easier to spend a day meeting multiple vendors than to have to organise lots of individual office meetings,” claimed one delegate, and another said: “Very good job – it was much appreciated and thank you to everyone at Hammer”.

The conference was led by speakers from IDC, IT Europa, Seagate, Intel, QLogic and Quantum, providing a comprehensive and in-depth view of the current market, upcoming trends, and how the channel is evolving.

In addition, delegates and vendors alike took part in the Silverstone Experience at the world famous racetrack. In what was dubbed: “A fantastic experience! “ by Anna James of Xyratex, and: “Awesome! “ by Nigel Hodges of Powerware, attendees were given the chance to race a Lotus Exiges, take part in a skid control exercise, tarmac rally and pit-stop challenge, as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of the fascinating and historic sporting venue.

Storage Focus proved to be an excellent combination of work and play for all involved in the storage arena, in an event which, of its calibre and focus on storage, was long overdue, and the first of its kind.

In 2008, Storage Focus enters its second year, in what promises to be another highly successful and enjoyable event.
